If your SSS membership type is OFW, Self-Employed, Voluntary, Separated, or Non-Working Spouse, you will now receive your SSS sickness benefit, SSS maternity benefit or Employees' Compensation benefit through your bank account.

This is called the SMEC-PB program, which means Sickness, Maternity and Employees' Compensation Payment thru the Bank.

The initial name of this program was SSS Sickness & Maternity Benefits Payment Through the Bank (SMB-PB) program.

You will receive your benefit through your bank account with any of the following Philippine banks. It should be a savings account, and a single account (yours only) and not a joint account. It can be an atm account or passbook account.

Does SSS accept cash cards or prepaid cards?
Yes, but get a cash card or prepaid card that can contain up to 100,000 pesos.
The generic BDO cash card can contain only up to 10,000 pesos at a time.

You  can also use your SSS UMID card as your ATM card, but you need first to activate your UMID card at Union Bank kiosks at SSS branches in:

Diliman
Manila
Buendia
Pioneer
Baguio
Cebu
Davao

What do I present to the bank so that they won't require me to make an initial deposit of 2,000 or 3,000 pesos?
Present a Letter of Introduction (LOI) from SSS. Request for an LOI from SSS. Bring your SSS acknowledgment slip, benefit claim slip, or any proof that you will be receiving a sickness or maternity benefit from SSS.

I already have an existing ATM account. Can I use it to receive my sickness or maternity benefit?
Yes.
It's when you claim your pension that SSS requires a separate bank account.

Which banks offer the lowest amount of initial deposit and maintaining-balance requirement?
Kaya Savings account -- no maintaining balance -- 250 pesos initial deposit plus atm card fee -- offered by BPI or BPI Family
Easi-Save Basic account -- no maintaining balance -- 100 pesos opening fee -- offered by China Savings Bank
ATM Savings account -- 500 pesos initial deposit and maintaining balance -- offered by Landbank
Express Teller Savings account -- 1,000 pesos initial deposit and maintaining balance -- offered by BPI Family

If you're near these rural banks, their maintaining-balance requirements are lesser than the commercial or thrift banks:
BDO Network Bank
Country Rural Bank of Taguig
Guagua Rural Bank
Rural Bank of Pililla

    1. Yes, ang ipapa-open nila sa iyo ay yong basic account na no-maintaining-balance, pero mag-initial deposit ka pa rin ng around 100 pesos, or you pay the atm card, which is 150 to 200 pesos. Pero merong mga banks na wala nang basic account, like BDO, BPI or Metrobank (although puede itong big banks na ito kapag pension account).

Nakasulat doon something like "Kindly assist our member _____ to open an account with your bank. This will be used by SSS for releasing her/his benefit."

  11. Pwde ba yung bdo debit card from my seperated employment?. or kailangang magonline banking talaga?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

Punta ka lang sa https://www.sss.gov.ph/, check mo "I am not a robot", the Submit, click mo yong Member, then hanapin mo yong "Register" or "Not yet enrolled" at i-click mo, then register. Pag meron ka nang account, login ka, then click mo "E-Services" then "Bank Enrollment" at i-enroll mo yong UB account mo.

  15. Hi.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, oo magkaiba sila. Pero they belong to the same company group. BPI is the parent company of BPI Family. Sa online banking naman at sa ATMs nila, BPI uses the same and a single system.

  16. Good day! Okey lang po ba gamitin yung Rcbc atm card ko from my seperated employer? At dapat po na enroll na agad yung atm if mag face to face interview plng sa sss for maternity benefits.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Para sure, kasi baka biglang i-close ng RCBC yong account mo dahil hindi nadedepositohan ng company mo at baka merong tag yong account na "only for deposit from XXX Co.", i-balance inquiry mo sa RCBC ATM to check if it's active, then pasok ka sa any RCBC branch and ask kung puedeng gamitin sa SSS maternity benefit at paano ma-ensure na hindi muna iko-close ng RCBC

To upgrade: https://www.paymaya.com/quick-guide/upgrade. Format ay 09171234567 or 09181234567.
